1. The Holy Bible recognizes the responsibility of children towards their parents.
Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. (Ephesians 6:1)
2. International law recognizes the role of parents in guiding the upbringing of their children.
Parents or, as the case may be, legal guardians, have the primary responsibility for the upbringing and development of the child. The best interests of the child will be their basic concern. (Article 18, Convention on the Rights of the Child).
3. International law acknowledges the vulnerability of the child because of its immaturity to make proper decisions concerning their rights.
"The child, by reason of his physical and mental immaturity, needs special safeguards and care, including appropriate legal protection, before as well as after birth" (Convention on the Rights of the Child, preamble and Article 12).
4. Science teaches us the explicit vulnerability of children concerning sexuality.
When a child looks at a pornographic image within three-tenths of a second that’s imprinted on his brain and her brain permanently. We know that there is an action called mirroring images so that children will want to or will act out what they see. (Judith Reisman, Ph.D. – Director Liberty Child Protection Center, Liberty University School of Law).
5. Our Commitment:
In our stance, we therefore call upon governments to set out policies enabling parents to protect the rights and innocence of the child’s development, especially focused on sexuality education.
