Euthanasia

Euthanasia

We recognize the indispensable nature of humanity.

1.        The Bible does not allow euthanasia as medical treatment.

There is no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither hath he power in the day of death. (Ecclesiastes 8:8).

2.        International law does not recognize the right to euthanasia.

Every human being has the inherent right to life. This right shall be protected by law. No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his life. (International Covenant for Civil and Political Rights 6(1).

3.        Medical ethics do not regard the practice of euthanasia as ethically correct.

Euthanasia, that is the act of deliberately ending the life of a patient, even at the patient’s own request or at the request of close relatives, is unethical. (World Medical Association Declaration on Euthanasia, reaffirmed by the 200th session in Oslo).

4. Our Commitment:

In our stance, we, therefore, fully reject the practice of active euthanasia on patients.
