1. Biblical Foundation
“So, God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them." (Genesis 1:27)
2. Gender plays an important role in society
Gender, as biologically defined, is foundational to the structure of families and communities.
3. Challenges in the Modern Context
The growing advocacy for gender fluidity and interventions such as gender-affirming surgeries have significant implications: Medical Risks: Irreversible procedures, often performed on minors, can lead to long-term health complications and regret. Psychological Impact: Studies suggest that addressing underlying mental health issues often yields better outcomes than physical interventions. Erosion of Truth: Denying biological realities undermines objective truth and societal coherence.
4. Better Alternatives
We advocate for compassionate counseling and psychological support to help individuals navigate gender dysphoria, focusing on healing and acceptance. Studies such as that done in Frontiers in Psychology (2022) demonstrated that gender dysphoria patients who received cognitive behavioral therapy experienced significant improvements in mental health and well-being compared to those who pursued medical interventions.
5. Our Commitment:
We stand for upholding the biological and biblical understanding of gender as sex indicating either male or female. We can therefore not align ourselves with the term gender as described by the WHO as being a socially constructed role. We therefore call on governments to provide compassion, help, and support for people who are struggling personally with their sex. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born, I set you apart." (Jeremiah 1:5)
