1. The Bible celebrates marriage as a covenant and upholds its divine purpose
“Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh." (Genesis 2:24)
2. Marriage plays an important role in society
It is a public good that strengthens communities and ensures the well-being of future generations. Research from the Institute for Family Studies and other organizations demonstrates that children raised in marriage are more likely to excel emotionally, academically, and socially, with lower rates of poverty and delinquency (Wilcox & Kline, 2022 State of Our Unions Report).
3. We stand against policies that undermine the sacred and cultural nature of marriage.
We stand firmly against any redefinition or erosion of marriage and advocate for policies that uphold its sanctity and societal importance.
4. We call on governments and communities to:
Protect and promote marriage as the union of one man and one woman by supporting families and educating society about its value. “The family is the natural and fundamental group unit of society and is entitled to protection by society and the State." (Article 16(3), UDHR)
5. Our Commitment:
We advocate for marriages where love, responsibility and commitment are nurtured for a better future for all. We recognize that this ideal foundation of marriage and family is not always possible.
