Dear reader,
Thanks
First of all, many thanks to those who have supported us in words, prayers and financially over the past period. Very encouraging!
Milestone Canada
After a period of intensive meetings, training and strategy sessions, March 18, 2025 the founding of Christian Council International Canada became a reality. We are thankful for the people there who want to put their shoulders to the work of CCI and cooperate in turning the secular tide from a Christian perspective.
Fundamental changes
In January, I was able to attend the commemoration of Roe vs. Wade, as well as the inauguration of the 47th president of the United States, Donald Trump. With his taking office, much has already changed on the world stage, although this does not mean the battle for Christian conservatives is won. Read more about this in the articles by Peter Smith, John Van Der Brink and Mark den Hollander.
Fellowships
In both Geneva and New York, (young) people were introduced to CCI's work at the United Nations. During these so-called Fellowships the UN buildings are visited, side conferences are attended and it is made clear how CCI tries to influence policies made on the themes of life, family, freedom and sovereignty. Besides the nice people, good atmosphere and beautiful weather we had, it is encouraging to see how the younger generation also cares about crumbling Christian values.
Geneva Office
From this place we would like to thank our policy officer Geneva, Wilmer Hak, very much for his work at the UN in Geneva, which he had the opportunity to do on location for 7 months. He will continue his work hybrid. Wilmer follows sessions of the Human Rights Council and keeps a close eye on WHO developments, such as the pandemic treaty.
Africa and globally
Our Africa policy officer, Sylvia Mesesi, describes how the African Union Convention on Ending Violence against Women and Girls seems to be a Trojan Horse.
In connection with World Down Syndrome Day, she wrote an article on behalf of CCI about the contradiction of inclusive policies when it comes to people with Down syndrome. She concludes as follows: “Let us commit to changing laws, shifting mindsets, and building a world that values every life , not because it is "perfect," but because it is sacred.”
And that is what CCI is trying to do with your help!
On behalf of the CCI team,
Henk Jan van Schothorst
Director Christian Council International
